Over the years, I have prepared CAD (computer-aided drafting) scale plans for most of the YV structures and equipment as well as numerous other buildings. These are all compiled onto a single CD. There are 90 files on this CD covering 102 different buildings and pieces of equipment. The majority of the files include not only plans but also photos, historical information, and modeling suggestions. The typical file is 4 pages long with 1-2 pages of drawings, a page of information, and a 1-2 pages of additional photos. However, other files are much longer; the Caboose file is 27 pages long while the Merced Station and Merced Roundhouse files are 11 pages each. There are over of 450 pages of information on this CD. As indicated on this detailed list, drawings are included for every station on the line except for Pleasant Valley, for every building in the Merced yards, several water tanks, much of the M of W equipment, etc. Buildings range from single-hole outhouses to a scan of the original construction drawings for the El Portal station and several bridges. Here are a couple of pages of a drawing of M of W 06 which was drawn from photo interpretation and a page from the file for the Barrett station drawn from Merced Irrigation District plans. The price of this CD, including U.S. domestic shipping, is $20.00. Item P001
Route Maps CD
This CD contains copies of 99 original engineering route maps of the railroad. The maps are 11x14 in size and are at a scale of 1"=800'; they overlap on both edges. The maps are saved at a resolution of 200 dpi (.jpg format) and are approximately 3-4 megs each in size. You will need a program capable of viewing .jgp format files such as Photoshop Elements or MS Photo Editor. To print the maps (unless you can print 11x14 drawings), you will need the ability to either reduce the size of the images or have a program which will allow you to select Print to Fit. The maps cover the entire original route of the Yosemite Valley Railroad from Merced to El Portal. An additional group of maps covers the 1920s relocation from Merced Falls to Detwiler. The maps show right-of-way, track alignment, original sidings, bridges, the Merced River and other water courses, and some railroad buildings. Here is a sample of one of the pages on this CD showing the original trackage at Pleasant Valley. The price of this CD, including U.S. domestic shipping, is $10.00. Item R001

This two-CD set is a compilation of some of the research resources used to write my book, Trains to Yosemite. There are over 520 individual files on these two CDs. Most are Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) files with the rest saved as MS Excel (.xls) files. The files range from original Yosemite Valley Railroad company files and magazine articles to oral interviews, ICC reports, California Railroad Commission Inventories, analysis of traffic spreadsheets, and examples of timetables over the years. The files are indexed for easier reference. Here are a couple of samples from this CD: a page from the CRC 1914 report and a copy of an original report on loads. Only 13 sets left.
These HO scale caboose decals will provide lettering for any of the cabooses owned by the Yosemite Valley Railroad including the brass models imported by West Side Models and Beaver Creek Models. The price is $10.00 per sheet including U.S. domestic postage. Item D001
Log Car Decals
These decals have sold out.
Only 3 sets left.
YV locomotives were originally lettered with the locomotive number on the tender and the road name spelled out on the cab (similar to the AT&SF). In the mid-1920s, the locomotives still on the roster were repainted and lettered in the "billboard" scheme with the road name on the tender and the locomotive number on the cab (similar to the SP). The first two engines were sold before the change in lettering style and thus were never lettered in the billboard scheme. This HO scale decal set will provide lettering for all of the YV locomotives.
One decal set will letter either:
1) All 10 engines owned by the YV (20, first No. 26 plus the 21, 22, 23, 25, second 26, 27, 28, and 29) in the original lettering style with the locomotive number on the tender and the road name on the cab; or
2) The No. 20 and first No. 26 in the original lettering style plus any 5 engines in the later "billboard" scheme with the road name on the tender and the locomotive number on the cab.
If you are modeling the post mid-1920s with the billboard scheme and want to letter all seven engines in service at that time (22, 23, 25, second 26, 27, 28, and 29), you will need two sets of decals. Lettering diagrams are included. These decals were printed by Rail Graphics and are $18 per sheet including domestic postage.Item D003
Box Car Decals
Only 3 sets left.
These HO decals will letter any of the 13 box cars acquired by the YV in 1907 and later. The decal sheet includes side and end lettering (together with capacity and repack lettering). One sheet will letter two box cars in the simplified scheme used in later years. Lettering is also included for the early factory scheme with the large "Y", "V", and "RR" shown at the top of the sheet; it takes two sheets to letter one car in this scheme due to the large size of the side lettering. Lettering diagrams are included. These decals were printed by Rail Graphics and are $10.00 per sheet. Item D004
HO Passenger Car Decals
Only 16 sets left.
These decals provide all of the lettering needed to letter any of the various passenger cars owned by the YV including RPO 107, combines 105 and 106, coaches 302-305 and observation cars 330 and 331. One decal sheet will letter:
RPO 107 and
- One of the combination cars (106 or 106); and
- One coach (302 or 303 or 304 or 305); and
- One observation car; (330 or 331)
One sheet will thus letter all of the available brass passenger cars (RPO 107, Combine 105, Coach 302, and Observation 330). Lettering diagrams are included. These decals were printed by Rail Graphics and are $10.00 per sheet including domestic postage. Item D006

Hicks Locomotive and Car Works Pin
The Yosemite Valley Railroad purchased a set of three matched passenger cars in 1907 from the Hicks Locomotive and Car Works in Chicago. These cars were Combination Car 105, Coach 302, and Observation 330. Observation 330 is currently being restored for operation on the Niles Canyon Railway in Fremont, CA. To celebrate the centennial of this historic car, Sundance Marketing was commissioned to produce a commemorative custom lapel pin based on the unique design of the Hicks Locomotive and Car Works floor plate found in this observation car. (A floor plate covers access to the bolster pin on a passenger car.) This is a metal pin with a 24K polished gold raised rim and lettering and soft enamel in the recesses.
